The name's the thing - help name the doll (and win something)

Well, I have a new interest. Or obsession. Let's say interest, for the moment - it sounds a bit less compulsive-creepy.

Like possibly every photographer since someone invented light-sensitive paper, I've discovered... dolls.

Come hither

Not just any doll, either. I've fallen for Pullips, Korean ball jointed dolls that are creepily, inhumanly human. Not quite as uncanny as some of the Japanese dolls, mind you - these are visibly disproportionate, but the resemblance, out of the corner of the eye, is still unsettling.

And that's why I like them.

(Well, that and the fun of playing with dollhouses. And the odd looks I get from people wandering around my suburb taking photos of my dolly.)

I've done some much darker work with these dolls already, but I'm not quite ready to show it. For the moment, I'm playing; with light and angle and pose, making the non-living alive.

Green grass in the late afternoon

This is Withered. She's one of the older Pullips. She doesn't have a name of her own - what should I call her? After all, if we're going to be spending this much time together, she should at least have a name.

Withered up against the wall
What is her name?

Comment with name suggestions - I'll give a prize for the one I use. I'm not sure what yet, but it'll be something!

Polling!

Well, we're two days into the week-long poll, and so far, it's neck and neck between one photo per week, and three per week, with no one-shot rule. If you've got an opinion either way, make sure you vote before the end of the week!

Necessary changes - please vote!

In other news, you may have noticed the lack of photos in the last few days - I've had a few too many problems with my hands to take pictures, sadly. I did carefully take my camera to a cooking day on Sunday, since I could mostly move my thumb without screening, only to discover both batteries were dead. 'Doh!

It's become obvious to me that I need to reduce the posts on Tree in Forest, due the amount of demands on my time, as well as my health limitations.

There's a poll to the left of the page with the options I'm considering. I'd really appreciate it if you took the time to vote. Obviously, the final decision will be mine; but I would very much like to get input from my readers.

Tree in Forest definitely isn't going away - I enjoy it far too much! Help me work out the best way to keep it going from here, please.

Edit: Livejournal readers, the poll is in the sidebar on the main page - click through to vote, please~!

More ramblings.

'Sleep' seems to be the longest theme ever! I do hope I haven't bored you all to... tears. (The 'sleep' pun was just too lame, even for me.) I'm hoping to have the last shot for the current theme up either tomorrow or Friday, which means a clean slate for next week.

I'm dilemna-ing, though. I have a nice, comfortable little theme in mind for the next project, and I think I have the necessary resilience to shoot it. Alternatively, I've been meaning to do a theme called 'Flashback', with some of my favourite shots from some of your favourite themes... and a new seventh shot for the theme y'all voted as most popular a few weeks back.

Since we all seems to like polls, and I'm trying out yet another poll site, you get a poll to answer to help me decide.

We'll be back to normal soon, promise!

Which theme would you prefer for next week?
New, yet-to-be-announced theme.
'Flashback' best-of theme.

Poll problems?

Whee. This cold weather sinks into my bones and aches; which means my left foot has been hurting as much as the nerve-damaged right. Worrying. Does anyone know a good rheumatologist in Sydney?

I'm hoping to be able to move past that enough to have a shot for tonight, but just quickly, did anyone have any issues using the poll I posted? I haven't used that site before, and it seemed a little hiccup-ey. Let me know if you had any trouble voting! I want to use the results next theme, so if you haven't voted yet, hurry up!

Update and Poll!

Well, still exhausted. I'm back to working in the office four days a week, and it's proving even more exhausting and painful than I thought. I'm getting better slowly, but it's taking a while. In the meantime, I have a couple of ideas to keep us going... and a poll!

I've had a look at the views to work out which themes people looked at most; and now I'd like to know which ones were your favourites. Click on the poll below to vote, or if your particular favourite isn't there, comment and let me know.
