Four 7

Four 7

Four bitter melon seeds.

They're now in pots in the kitchen window, along with their three siblings. Only two pots for the seven of them so far - they'll go in something larger once they've germinated.

Taken with my new and incredibly shiny lens; the Canon 50mm f/1.8. I know it's of no interest to anyone but me, so I'll spare you all the squee'ing noises I've been making. My housemates have had more than enough to bear without reading them as well!

Four 6

Four 6

Four Australian Dollars.

A friend suggested I photograph change... but we didn't have any, believe it or not. Since my partner just got back from Thailand today, we did have plenty of baht, and a quick conversion gave us this handy note.

Kind of takes away the thrill of carrying hundred dollar bills around in your wallet, doesn't it.

Four 3

Four 3

The four noble truths.

The first truth is the truth of suffering; to be alive is, necessarily to suffer. (My addition, since it often seems to be overlooked - suffering isn't all there is to life! But to be incarnated in the world means you will suffer; no avoiding it.)
The second truth is the origin of suffering; craving causes suffering; attachment to the things we have, and think we should have, to wantings and cravings and desires.
The third truth is the cessation of suffering; the ending of craving and attachment.
The fourth truth is the truth of the way to the cessation of suffering; the teachings of the Buddha.

There you go; Arwen's potted religious treatise. Do you feel enlightened?

Four 2

Four 2

Four miniature big-eyed dolls.

The brown haired one on the top right is Theobroma - I've never gotten around to naming any of the others. I seem to be the only person I know who isn't disturbed by their large heads. Admittedly, I want to do strange disturbed 'fashion' shoots with them, but that shouldn't be surprising.

Four 1

Four 1

Four green pencils, with four empty spaces.

Firstly, my apologies for the lateness of this post - and the one that's about to follow it. I've been stricken down with diabetic ickynesses for the past two days, and have been doing very little other than wandering around seeing flashing things, and falling into exhausted sleep. And being stressed about work - usually while at work.

I actually took this shot while in the middle of a bout of hypoglycaemia
- it doesn't show, does it!
